Ellis Island, 3/4 view of "American" side, metal, chain-link fence, polymer-painted rope, 101.5"x60"x56"
This is a two-sided piece that you walk around. The fence is symbolic of the detention of immigrants on Ellis Island. On one side of the fence is the red, white and blue of the American flag; on the other side is the red, green and white of the Italian flag. Using my grid method of music notation for placement of the ropes (see Music), the music used were Italian immigrant songs
